What Makes Us Heal?

A little-acknowledged fact of biology is that it is our own immune system that heals us, not any form of medicine or drug. Drugs, prescribed by doctors in the Western world, interact with our body's cellular structure, and suppress symptoms of disease. Sometimes, our immune system heals the underlying disease, and the suppression of the symptoms which was caused by the drugs doesn't do any harm. Other times, the suppression of the symptoms just causes the body to move the disease somewhere else, and a different symptom appears, requiring our doctors to give us new drugs for the new symptom. This is why so many Americans today sit down to their meals with an array of 8 to 15 pills to take before eating. Each pill to suppress a symptom causes new symptoms, which are then “corrected” with another pill. Of course, there are times when suppression of the symptom is critically important, and it's good we have doctors available to help when that happens. It's also good that we have doctors to set broken bones, or perform organ replacement surgery when our immunity has really allowed things to get out of whack. There are some good things that doctors do. However, healing people is not among them. That's because “healing” is not done by doctors or by drugs . It is done by the body's immune system.

You may not understand how the immune system works, or that it is the method designed by nature to heal us. The following story is not a story of “Fantasy Land.” This is a story of Earth, documented in mainstream science. In fact, much of it is printed in the NIH Publication No. 07-5423, titled “Understanding the Immune System.” I'm telling you this because this story is so outlandish, you might think I made it up. No, it wasn't me! The National Institute of Health, in cooperation with mainstream scientists, made it up!

From the NIH pamphlet: “Disease-causing microbes attempting to get into the body must first get past the body's external armor, usually the skin or cells lining the internal passageways. The skin provides an imposing barrier to invading microbes. It is generally penetrable only through tiny cuts or abrasions.. . Natural Killer Cells are another kind of lethal white cell.. . Both kinds of killer cells slay on contact. The deadly assassins bind to their targets, aim their weapons, and then deliver a lethal burst of chemicals.”

Here we see that the National Institute of Health describes our immune system as an internal army, bent on fighting off enemies that would cause us discomfort. This army apparently has a lot of types of soldiers in it, and drugs prescribed by doctors are then logically designed to assist this army to do a better job. In the end, however, it is the army that does the work to heal. The drugs just make the patient more comfortable by suppressing the symptoms. But, wait a minute. What are those symptoms? Coughing is used by the body to expel undesirable objects from the airways. That's a good thing, isn't it? Did you want to keep the objects stuck in there? Okay, what about fever. Well, fever is designed to heat up the environment, to force out the problems by burning them out. You didn't want to keep those problems, did you? Pain. Well, yes, we do want to suppress pain. But many of the drugs that are painkillers act by diverting serotonin, the hormone that gives a pleasurable feeling, from the stomach to the brain. That means we end up with an upset stomach and digestive problems. Digestive problems, over time, prevent our organs from receiving the nutrients they require. They degenerate, and eventually, some doctor identifies them as a disease that is listed in the disease catalog, and the next thing you know, you are taking a drug for something that originated from the upset in the balance of serotonin to your stomach!

We believe that the doctors know what they are doing. We need to believe, because they are the authorities from which we must get help. It is their intention to help. They personally believe they are helping. Because we all believe, then we see it. It looks like help. Unless, of course, you have fibromyalgia, chemical sensitivities, serious allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, cancer, HIV Aids, or any of the multitude of named diseases which are associated with weakened immune system response. Then, your weakened immunity is not doing its job of healing. That's where you first realize that it is the immune system that heals, not the doctor.
